Flowers in bloom of every kind
Somehow this brings to mind
God’s infinite creativity
No one’s like you, no one’s like me.
And God wants every single one
To help get His glorious work done
So let’s not compete or compare,
Let’s just get the job done, do our share.
What a privilege it is
To do His work, to be His.

Words
Sometimes we don’t realize just how important our words are.
Words can lift us up, fill us with the courage we need to go far.
They can give us hope, encourage our faith, help us on our way,
We need Your heavenly guidance in everything we say.
But Lord, there I go, again, not letting love guide my tongue
I spoke in haste, before I prayed, and let harmful words be flung
To someone who needed kindness and the anointing of Your love
The hope of trust and understanding, of contact with God above.
So please forgive my carelessness in the words that I speak,
And fill me with Your wisdom; that is what I seek.
Please help me to apologize for words too hastily spoken
That don’t reflect Your loving heart, that can leave hearts broken,
And thank You for Your forgiveness, and love and grace so free,
That You extend to all Your children and give so willingly

So, today is another PRAISE AND TESTIMONY SERVICE. Since this is Memorial Day weekend, the theme is “Remembering the Past.” Have you been thinking and praying about God’s works in the past? Are you now ready to share your thoughts today with the rest of us for all of our encouragement? It will be good. Thanks.

God shows us in the Bible that memorials have their place
They remind us of God’s care of us and His amazing grace.
A memorial of creation is the day of rest for man,
He placed it in His commandments as part of His great plan.
When God’s people left Egypt after God had made it known
He who watched over Israel was Almighty God and God alone
He preserved Israel’s firstborn with a Passover celebration
That brought them out of slavery, re-established them as a nation.
When Israel crossed the Red Sea, a miracle of God’s power
He wanted them to remember what happened in that hour
So He had them gather stones, build a monument to God
To remind them of His mighty power so they could give Him laud
And when Jesus celebrated Passover with His chosen few
It became a treasured memorial for all of us, too,
To help us remember just how He died for our sins
The memorial of how our new life begins
So we celebrate Memorial Day to remember heroes of the past,
Who gave their lives to give us earthly freedom that would last.

Next Sunday will be another PRAISE AND TESTIMONY SERVICE. Since the service falls on Memorial Day weekend, the theme will be “Remembering the Past.” What has God done in the past that you can share with the rest of us? Think about it, pray about it, and come prepared to share next Sunday.

F. Y. I. – Today has been designated as
International Day of Prayer for the Unreached (which fits in well with last week’s message, true?). Our suggestion, then, is that each of us take some time today and pray for people we know that do not yet
know Jesus, as well as for people around the world who have not yet heard the message of the salvation that is found in Christ.

Mothers give us our first taste of what love is all about
They give to us their constant care that we could not live without
They feed us, and clean us, and keep us warm and dry
They cuddle us, hold us, and find out why we cry
When we’re sick or hurting and cannot sleep
They stay with us faithfully, their loving watch to keep
As we grow older they share wisdom they have learned.
And help us find the way to goals for which we’ve yearned
Thank you, God, for giving us such dedicated love
That reminds us of the priceless love You send us from above.

May 5, at Riverview Community Church in Kent, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. a seminar will be held sponsored by Stephen Ministries on how to give loving care to others in need. If interested in being a part of a group attending, talk to Pastor Jim. Registrations need to be in this week! Thanks.

I’ve seen so many answers to prayer, and so have you
So when we see one answered, just what should we do?
Do we take it for granted, this answer to our petition?
Do we just ignore the wonder of our position?
We are so privileged to approach the awesome God who hears
The God who has given us wisdom and comfort through the years
So now we can give Him glory, give Him honor, thanks and praise
For loving us, for hearing us, and watching over us all of our days.
