Sept 23 2018 Thought for the week

“There really is no place for Christ in many people’s Christianity. Their faith is not actually in Christ; it is in Christianity and their own abilities to live their faith. ”
Paul Tripp in “A Quest For More.”

Prayer Family of the Week: Woodie Woods

Your Book tells us about Your great Creation
It gives us a lot of other valuable information
It shows us how to have a positive perspective
And shows how You give to us a mind that is active
With the kinds of thoughts that are pleasing to You.
And it isn’t always easy to do.
. Our thought patterns start when we’re very small
And we don’t really think about them at all.
With Jesus as our Savior
We begin to change,
And our thought processes start to re-arrange.
We become more aware of forgiveness and love,
Of the guidance You’ll give us from above,
Since our thoughts are what motivate our actions
They’re very important; they guide all our transactions.
Philippians 4:8 gives a very important clue
On how, when we follow it, we become more like You.

Challenges
Challenges come; they always do
But You are there to see us through.
It would be interesting to see
Just what each one was meant to be.
To what character trait does it relate?
Or what should I learn to appreciate?
How is it meant to help me grow
As I continue here below?
How is it preparing me
To become the witness You want me to be?
How does this challenge affect others,
Father, mother, sisters, brothers?
We thank You that You carefully plan
What’s needed to shape each woman, each man.

Sep 2, 2018 Thought for the week

“Courage is not limited to the battlefield or the Indianapolis 500 or bravely catching a thief in your house. The real tests of courage are the inner tests, like remaining faithful when nobody’s looking, like enduring pain when the room is empty, (and) like standing alone when you’re misunderstood.”

What does autumn mean to you?
The start of school and harvest too
Preparing for the cooler weather
And times of indoor get together
We see God’s hand as His plans unfold In leaves of orange and red and gold. That first appeared so small and green
That brought to life the barren scene.
The leaves that summer helped to grow
Fall to the cooling earth below
To feed the growing plants and then
The cycle starts all over again.
